Armoured Vehicle Suspension Engineering
Suspension Engineered for the Permanent Weight of Armour
Tough Dog Armoured develops complete heavy-duty suspension systems for armoured and protected vehicles, engineered to restore load control, stability and handling under permanent additional weight.

Matched System, Not Isolated Parts
A Complete Suspension System
Tough Dog Armoured does not sell isolated components. Each system is engineered as a matched set — shocks, springs, steering dampers and sway bars working together to manage the permanent additional weight of armour.
The Engineering Problem
Armour Adds Permanent Mass. Factory Suspension Was Not Designed For It.
Armour adds permanent mass to a vehicle. Factory suspension was engineered for the original vehicle weight — not for the additional load of ballistic protection, run-flat tyres and reinforced structures.
Added mass affects ride height, body control, braking behaviour, steering response and component life. Suspension must be matched to the completed vehicle's actual weight and intended operating conditions.
Engineering & Testing
The Engineering Process
Vehicle & Axle-Weight Assessment
Determine the completed vehicle weight, front and rear axle loads, and intended operating conditions.
Spring-Rate Selection
Select or design springs rated for the permanent armour load while maintaining ride height and travel.
Shock Valving
Match shock absorber damping characteristics to the spring rates and vehicle mass for controlled movement.
Component Matching
Ensure shocks, springs, steering dampers and sway bars work as a coordinated system.
Prototype & Fitment Development
Develop and validate fitment for the specific vehicle platform and armour configuration.
Testing & Validation
Test suspension performance under representative load and operating conditions.
Production Supply
Supply matched suspension systems with full engineering documentation for production vehicles.
